Why your Hair MATTERS so much

When you think about it hair is the one part of our body that we can actually change whenever we want, without causing any permanent damage and yes know bleach, perms etc. do damage your hair but it grows right back right? So what if it doesn’t….

We wanted to explore the psychological bond we have with our hair and why when we have good hair days we’re on top of the world but on bad hair days, everything can feel off.

Our hair is a great way to express ourselves, our personality, our mood, almost anything… we can dress it up or dress it down, style it to attract attention, to project a chosen identity or to seize the mood of the moment.

And we all know our hair is a fantastic way to channel our emotions – think post breakup cuts – and how we influence the world’s perception of us. But sadly as we age our hair ages too. It loses colour, vitality and naturally thins and this massive part of ourselves can sometimes fade with it.

On average, every person has anywhere from 100,000 to 150,000 hair follicles. It’s typical to lose around 100 each day. But, as you get older your hair begins to grow at a slower rate, so even if you continue losing just that same average amount, your hair will appear thinner.

Deborah Pergament wrote in the Chicago-Kent Law Review, back in the 90’s that “Inferences and judgments about a person’s morality, sexual orientation, political persuasion, religious sentiments and, in some cultures, socio-economic status can sometimes be surmised by seeing a particular hairstyle.” Now this article is over 20 years old, and yet it still rings true today.

Helen of Troy

We have associated our hair with status, wealth, and royalty since ancient times. Thick, rich, hair has always meant health, sensuality, and youth, so it continues to mean that to women today.

Now, if you know your classics, then you’ll know that Helen of Troy, supposedly the most beautiful woman in the world was described as having long, thick, flowing locks and when Menelaus found her after the sacking of Troy, he saw how beautiful her hair was and fell in love with her all over again and even forgave her for running off with Paris in the first place! If that doesn’t tell you about the power of great hair then what does?

The benefit of topical hair growth products vs hair vitamins

On average, every person has anywhere from 100,000 to 150,000 hair follicles. It’s typical to lose around 100 each day. But, as you get older your hair begins to grow at a slower rate, so even if you continue losing just that same average amount, your hair will appear thinner.

By nurturing and nourishing our locks we can support and grow what we already have. Now, there’s two ways you can do this, the traditional way is by hair vitamins / good diet. And let’s be clear, this is a great strategy and really works for speeding up hair growth.

HOWEVER, what about the hair you already have? Sadly, anything you take orally will not bear any fruit on the hair already on your head and that’s where Ginger and Pearl come in -i.e the second option. Our products are specifically designed to work at the root of the problem (pun intended!). Our three products, Healthy Hair Mask, Purifying Scalp Scrub, and Hair Growth Elixir, when used as a routine not only target and promote healthy hair growth but work to maintain and nourish the hair you already have. Because let’s face it, if you’ve got dry, fragile and unhappy locks, the last thing you’d want to do is chop it all off and start again… with Ginger and Pearl you can fix your unloved locks and get them back to perfection whilst still promoting and actively growing healthier hair at the same time!

So say goodbye to your lacklustre hair and hello to divine locks worthy of Helen herself!
